Name: Seed Certification

Benefits offered:

Seed production is supervised and quality seeds are certified. Certified seeds poses  required genetic purity, germination, physical purity, moisture and seed health.  Certification is completed in following phases:

1) Registration of seed farm

2) Verification of seed source used and other requirements

3) Field Inspection at appropriate stage of seed crop

4) Supervision of processing of seed lots.

5) Seed sampling and analysis

6) Grant of certificate to the eligible seed lots only

Eligibility:

Any person desiring to produce certified seeds can do so by registering the seed farm with the Department of Seed Certification.  The seed farm may be registered in the office of Assistant Director of Seed Certification in whose jurisdiction seed crop is raised. Registration fee of Rs.25 per application along with prescribed field inspection fee, Seed testing fee shall be paid in the office of the Assistant Director of Seed Certification in whose jurisdiction the seed crop is raised.

Time limits for sanction/rejection:

The decision on acceptances/rejection will be communicated to the producer within 3 days.

Scheme No.2

Name: Seed Quality Control

Benefits Offered:

1. Seed selling licenses are issued.

2 To ensure quality seed distribution to the farming community the seed selling points are inspected periodically and samples are drawn for quality check.

3. Complaints on poor quality seeds are processed.

4. Legal actions are taken against defaulters.

Eligibility:

Any person desired to sell seeds can do so by obtaining a license from the concerned Assistant Director of Seed Inspection.  License fee Rs.50/- per selling point.  License  valid for 3 years.  Renewal fee Rs.20 per selling point. (Valid for 3 years.)

Time limit for sanction:

The decision on acceptance/rejection of application for license will be communicated within 15 days.

Scheme No.3

Name: Seed Testing

Benefits Offered:

The seed samples sent for analysis by farming community and seed dealers are tested as service samples along with samples sent by Certification wing and Seed Quality Control wing for  the quality check.  The seed samples are analysed for its 

i) Physical Purity

ii) Germination

iii) Moisture

iv) Seed health

v) Other distinguishable varieties

vi) Genetic purity

Eligibility:

Any person desiring to test the seed can do so by sending a seed sample to notified seed testing laboratory of the Department of seed certification.  Testing fee Rs.30 per sample.

Time limit for sanction/rejection

The results will be communicated within 30 days fro samples analysed in lab.

Scheme No.4

Name: Seed Production/Seed Certification/Seed quality control/Seed Testing Training

Benefits Offered:

Certified seed production techniques and seed quality control legislation trainings are imparted to

1) Seed producers of Government, Quasi Government, and Private sector

2) Seed Dealers

3) Officials working in seed certification Department.

Eligibility:

Any person desiring to get training in the quality seed production and distribution can participate in the training.  No fee needs to be  paid.

Concerned Assistant Director of Seed Certification/Deputy Director of Seed Inspection

Time limit for sanction/rejection 

The decisions will be communicated within 10 days.
